Who is responsible

Turned Down is published under the name Ben Calder. You can reach us about anything on this page at info@turneddownbook.com.

What we collect, and why

Your email address

If you ask for the free chapter, we first send you a link to confirm your address. Only when you confirm do we store your email address, the page you signed up on and when you confirmed, and we use it to send you chapter 7 and news about the book. We do this because you asked us to, which means our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing from any newsletter or by writing to us.

If you never confirm, we store nothing. The confirmation email itself stays in our email provider’s logs for up to 30 days.

Purchases

When you buy the ebook on this site, Gumroad handles the payment, the tax and the delivery as the seller of record. Gumroad’s own privacy policy covers the payment details. We receive your email address and what you bought, so we can help if something goes wrong. If you buy through Amazon or another store, that store’s privacy policy applies and we receive no personal data about you.

Visiting the site

Our host, Netlify, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and keep it secure.

Analytics and cookies

We don’t use analytics or cookies. If that changes, nothing will load until you say yes, and this page will say so.

About the subject of the book

The book is about sex and relationships. Signing up tells us that you’re interested in the book, and nothing more. We never ask about your relationship or your sex life, and we don’t combine your email address with anything else.

Who we share it with

These companies store data in the United States. Transfers are covered by the safeguards each company uses, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Gumroad keeps records of purchases for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to info@turneddownbook.com. If you think we’ve handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY.
